So before I head out on vacation, I'm both launching my first giveaway AND leaving you with some big news. First, the giveaway: I was cleaning out the ink sample drawer and came across a handful of samples that I've either already reviewed and decided were not for me OR I loved and bought a bottle. No need to keep them any longer. They are:
From left to right: Pelikan Edelstein Amber (Ink of the Year!); Diamine Majestic Purple; J. Herbin Rouge Caroubier; Noodler's Zhivago; Iroshizuku Yu-Yake; Iroshizuku Fuyu-Gaki; Sailor Jentle Grenade; and Iroshizuku Momiji. Each of these has at least one fill in it--some have a full 2-3ml of ink. All inks seem to be in good shape.
And it doesn't end here. I've also decided that three lucky winners will receive their choice of the following inks: (1) a bottle of Stipula Grey ink; (2) a bottle of Rohrer and Klingner Alt-Goldgrun; or (3) a bottle of Pharmacists Urkundentinte (see my review here). These bottles have only one or two fills taken from them, and the inks are all in good condition.
And while I'm at it, the big announcement:
I'm in the early stages of opening a webstore. Over the past couple weeks, I've been contacting various manufacturers and suppliers and gathering information in hopes of being able to offer a small, carefully curated set of products, primarily paper and notebooks to start. I've received enough positive feedback that I'm going to go ahead with this and see where it takes me. I'm hoping to have the store up and running by the end of the summer.
So, in order to get thing moving, I've started a Teespring campaign (yes, yet another from us pen bloggers--there will be enough to make a collectible set soon). Visit www.teespring.com/gentlemanstationer to purchase your own Gentleman Stationer "Stock the Store" T-shirt in Ringspun "Canvas Red" Cotton, perfect for summer! I purchased my Penaddict Episode 100 T-shirt from Teespring and was super impressed with the lightweight cotton, especially for the hot summers we have here down South. The shirts will print and ship when 20 are reserved, which is a fairly low bar, so please help us out if you'd like.
Terms of the Giveaway: Leave a comment here on the blog ranking the giveaway items from 1-4 (ink samples or one of the three bottles of ink). Then buy a t-shirt. (Just kidding). In all seriousness, when I return home from vacation on July 6, 2014, I will follow the typical giveaway protocol of assigning each comment a number, and choosing four numbers at random using randomizer or another random number generator. The first number will get their first pick, and the second, third, and fourth place winners will get their prizes based on what's already been chosen and how they've ranked the four available items. AND, I'd appreciate it if you all would leave in your comments any suggestions for products you'd like to see carried that don't get much pen and paper retail attention. I'm trying to do something a little different than build another online superstore, and the concept is still a work in progress.
Giveaway is open to North American residents only. Unfortunately, right now I can't justify the postage for shipping to Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, etc. I know I have readers from around the world who might want to participate, and I truly appreciate their support.
Thanks everyone, and for those of you here in the U.S., enjoy your Fourth of July holiday!
