How to Get Started with Daily Journaling (via Wonder Pens). This was a timely post for me, since journaling is something I really want to do more of, even if just for a few minutes a day.
Skim Reading is the New Normal (via The Guardian). This is the article that Liz links to in her journaling blog post. Does anyone else have trouble engaging their “deep reading” mode anymore? I certainly do.
Tokyo Stationery Breakfast Club: People Getting Together on Saturday Morning to Talk Stationery (via Pen Addict/Mai Bun). This is a thing, and it’s exactly what the headline suggests.
Blackwing Volume 33 1/3 (via Pencil Revolution). Johnny has a new review of the latest Blackwing Volumes edition. This release has received sort of a muted reaction, but I’m with Johnny on this one - the matte black finish looks really good.
Stipula Etruria Magnifico Alter Ego (via SBRE Brown). I owned an Etruria Alter Ego years ago (gold nib, not titanium) and sold it, something I periodically regret. Stipula pens feature gorgeous celluloids, and the “Alter Ego” pattern is no different.
The Redesigned Galen Writing Box Looks Promising (via UK Fountain Pens). After the warping issues that many people experienced with earlier versions of the Galen Leather Writing Box, the company really seems to be trying to get this right. Hopefully their most recent modifications fix the problem.
Pelikan Hubs 2018, the Year of Pelikan Edelstein Olivine (via Fountain Pen Follies). A note on the second Chicago-area Pelikan Hubs in Evanston - I can vouch for the fact that serving as Hubmaster, while a lot of fun, is also a lot of work and leaves little time for socializing at the Hub itself! (I’ll gladly pass off next year’s duties in Nashville, btw…)
Opus 88 Picnic Brown (via Macchiato Man). Yagan has a very thorough review of the Opus 88 Picnic in brown acrylic. You all know I’m a fan of these Japanese-style eyedroppers, and I’m glad to see they’re becoming readily available around the world.
Benu Chameleon Fountain Pen Review (via Pens! Paper! Pencils!). We sold quite a few of these pens at the D.C. Pen Show. The Chameleon is one of Benu’s quirkier designs.
Monteverde Monza (via Well-Appointed Desk). Jesi reviews the new “Monza Flex,” and it looks like the name might be a bit of an overstatement. You can check out my own experience with the Monza here.

Please take a moment to visit these fine folks who help keep this blog going! It's next to impossible to keep up a steady stream of fresh review content without some form of sponsorship or affiliate relationship. I'm grateful to everyone who's helped me out along the way.
Vanness Pens. Vanness Pens carries rare and hard-to-find inks from all over the world, including Colorverse, Callifolio, Akkerman, and the full line of DeAtramentis. You can check out my recap of a visit to Vanness here.
Pen Chalet. Pen Chalet has a wide variety of available pens and offers unbeatable value on pens, inks, pen cases, etc.
Anderson Pens. In addition to having one of the largest offerings of bottled ink in the world, Anderson Pens is an authorized retailer of a wide range of brands, including Sailor, Aurora and Faber-Castell. Check out the sponsor profile I published here, and don't miss out on their new special edition Sailor Pro Gear in Slate Blue.
Paul's Paper & Pens. Paul features a well-curated selection of fountain pens, multi pens, notebooks, and more, including some very uncommon Pilot Vanishing Points and Decimos that we don't see here in the States.
TGS Amazon Page. I run across many more items (pens, pencils, books, accessories, etc.) in my online "travels." I can't feature them all on TGS, but Amazon has an option where I can set up an affiliate page to host product recommendations and earn fees on referrals. Amazon does not sponsor or endorse this blog in any way.
In Case You Missed It…
This week on the blog I reviewed two of my favorite daily writers: the Platinum 3776 in the Limited Edition Shungyo and Oshino finishes, and the Montblanc Heritage Collection 1912. Finally, this week’s Deals & Drops highlighted new releases from Pelikan, Blackwing, Field Notes, Sailor, Diplomat (a RED AERO?!?!) the list goes on.
Happy Sunday, and as always, thanks for reading!
