So the big news this weekend is the Philadelphia Pen Show, the first Pen Show of the New Year! I won’t be there, but I may still make the second in Los Angeles next month. This week’s Deals and Drops has a few new items those attending the Philly pen show may want to check out, some newly announced items, lingering post-holiday clearance sales and some “discontinued pen” alerts. Happy Shopping!
The “Pinnacle” from Newton Pens (via Vanness Pens Instagram). The big news is that Vanness is launching a new pen in partnership with Shawn Newton this weekend at the Philly Pen Show. Stock will be limited to start, but follow Vanness on Instagram (@justvanness) for details.
25% Off Leuchtturm Notebooks (via Vanness Pens). Vanness continues its winter Leuchtturm sale, so all you bullet journalers can stock up!
Opportunities on 2018 Aurora Pens (via Vanness Pens). While the stock is dwindling, Vanness still has a few Aurora 88 Minerali demonstrators at very attractive pricing, as well as some Optima Flex pens in the pastel colors.
Opus 88 Koloro Oversize, Now in Colors (via Pen Chalet). The transparent Opus 88 Demonstrator certainly made the rounds last year, and now Opus 88 has released this oversize pen in red, yellow, and grey versions.
Platinum 3776 Fountain Pen (via Pen Chalet). Pen Chalet is running special pricing on the Platinum 3776, with a lot of the specialized nib sizes in stock such as soft fine, soft medium, music, and ultra extra fine.
Sailor King of Pen (via Anderson Pens). Anderson Pens carries one of the largest selections of Sailor’s King of Pen model, which is one of the few Sailor pens that I haven’t used….
Pelikan M400 Brown Tortoise (via Amazon). Much like the M800 Tortoise from a few years ago, Pelikan has decided to discontinue the tortoiseshell M400 from its regular lineup. This will become a hunted item, I guarantee you.
Visconti Homo Sapiens Midnight in Florence (via Appelboom). Visconti is gearing up to release their newest special edition Homo Sapiens fountain pen, with this one in a swirled purple acrylic in the same style as London Fog, Florentine Hills, etc.
Montblanc James Purdey & Sons Limited Edition Fountain Pen (via Appelboom). Sure, this pen is expensive, but as a whiskey nut I love the design (and the ruthenium plated trim). If we can’t afford the pen, why not pick up the single-malt scented ink, which Montblanc always does well? Just don’t use it at work….
Edison Beaumont in New Colors (via Goldspot). It’s been a while since I’ve spotlighted Edison around here, but they recently introduced new colors of their production-line Beaumont pen, a vintage-inspired flat-top pen.
Oversize Sakura Fountain Pen (via 18111/Etsy). Penmaker Yoshi Nakama is exploring some new styles, including this gorgeous oversize pen featuring maki-e like technique. Be sure to check out the rest of his pens and roll-stoppers.
New Pens from Desiderata Pen Company (via Desiderata/Etsy). Desiderata has restocked their Etsy store with a bunch of new designs and patterns. In case you’re not familiar with Desiderata Pens, Pierre makes fountain pens that will accept a Zebra G Calligraphy nib.
Closeout Pricing on Stipula Ink (via Pen Chalet). If you’re a fan of Stipula Ink, you could really stock up here with deep discounting on remaining stock. It looks like Pen Chalet might not be carrying Stipula anymore?
Jetstream Parker-Style Refill (via Amazon). These are being sold individually in the states for $7 per refill, but apparently Mitsubishi is selling them directly on Amazon in a four-pack as a refill for the “Jetstream Prime” pen. I’ve ordered some and will have a review up soon.
