13 Hard-Learned Lessons from a Veteran Fountain Pen Addict (via UK Fountain Pens). A well thought-out, enjoyable piece. Everyone should read this.
ASC Bologna Extra Arco Fountain Pen (via Pencilcase Blog). Dries reviews this very large pen that might be the last opportunity to obtain a new pen in Omas Arco Brown celluloid. The pen itself is a bit too big for me (I’ve held them at shows), but if you appreciate a larger writing instrument (and can afford the price of entry) then check this one out.
Ti2 Techliner Review (via Writing at Large). I haven’t heard much about the Ti2 Techliner in a while, and actually found myself wondering the other day whether or not the company was still making pens. This blue/purple finish looks amazing.
Using Shimmer Ink in Fountain Pens (via Fountain Pen Love). I get a lot of questions about whether there is a “best pen” to use with shimmer inks, and their general safety when it comes to using them in fountain pens. John has written a great summary here.
Boiling a Frog (via UK Fountain Pens). I think about these issues a lot. Sure, we spend a lot of money on our pens, but often do so by economizing in other areas of our life, such as foregoing expensive clothing, going out on weekends, etc. After all, you can always sell the pen and get at least SOME of your money back. That $300 bar tab? Not so much.
Sailor Jentle Yama-Dori (via Comfortable Shoes Studio). A good reminder to break out my bottle of Yama-Dori. I forget about this one, and it’s a beautiful color.
Small Pen Makers (via Mountain of Ink). It’s amazing to see the number of small independent penmakers thriving today. Having your own custom pen made is a great experience, and I highly recommend that everyone try it at least once.
Man’s Best Friend? (via From The Pen Cup). I laughed out loud at this. My larger dog likely would’ve chewed through the bottle in a matter of seconds (to disastrous results).
A Few Montblanc Ballpoint Refills (via Pete Denison). Pete shows off a the refills he’s been using in his Montblanc M Series ballpoint. Many people don’t realize that Montblanc releases their ballpoint and rollerball refills in their limited edition colors. The ones I’ve tried have been excellent.

In Case You Missed It….
Before I recap this week: Don’t miss the giveaway for a Baron Fig Brass Squire! The Giveaway closes tonight.
This week on the blog I got back to work after some extensive travel and knocked out some reviews I had been meaning to finish for a while. I offered my impressions of the Pineider Arco Collection and the semi-flexible “Quill” nib, as well as the Montegrappa Monte-Grappa, which is marketed as an entry point into Montegrappa’s higher-end luxury pens. Finally, this week’s Deals & Drops highlighted some new releases, limited editions, and a couple of cheap pens that you ought to check out (with reviews on those coming soon).
Happy Sunday, and as always, thanks for reading!
