TWSBI Precision Fountain Pen in Gunmetal Grey

from $80.00

TWSBI’s “Precision” lineup features the hexagonal barrels that characterize traditional technical pens and mechanical pencils. In addition to the Precision Ballpoints and Mechanical Pencils, TWSBI offers a technical-style piston-filling fountain pen that uses the same nib as the TWSBI Diamond 580, though the nib units are slightly different and you will need to swap the nib directly (by pulling and replacing) rather than using the Diamond 580’s threaded nib unit. Please note that the pen only fills from an ink bottle and does not ship with ink, but bottled ink can be purchased separately here.

The idea behind the TWSBI fountain pens was to go back to basics and capture the simplicity and elegance of traditional writing instruments. In recent years, the development and modernization of writing instruments has resulted in traditional writing instruments, such as fountain pens, falling into obscurity. It was TWSBI’s goal to bring the past back to life by creating a traditional fountain pen that even modern day society can appreciate.

Features:

With each new release of its fountain pen models, TWSBI strives to improve on the small details:

  • Improved grip and end barrel section compared to the previous model, the TWSBI 540

  • 580 has increased ink capacity, about 30% more than the TWSBI 530, the first model

  • 580 has improved the smoothness of cap thread turning

A Quick Guide to TWSBI Nib Sizes, per the Manufacturer:

  • If you write small, go with an EF

  • For the normal writer, F is the most popular

  • If you tend to lean on a bigger font, M will be perfect

  • B is for statements!! Sign a check in B, write a header in B, do some coloring/shading in B

  • Stub nibs are italic in writing style (have a special card or invitation to write?)
