Thursday Drops: Traveler's Notebook "Tokyo Edition," Stalogy 2024 Special Editions, TWSBI Pre-orders and More!

A while back I mentioned that April can be like the holiday season for stationery lovers, and this week is no exception. Starting today, the 2024 Limited Edition Traveler’s Company “Tokyo” Notebook Sets and accessories are available for purchase, along with the 2024 Stalogy Special Edition 1/2 Year Notebook in white and new Tomoe River Paper options. These refills will fit most A5 notebook system covers from brands such as Lochby and Roterfaden, making them great options for setting up a new system or expanding your existing setup.

TWSBI Pre-orders are also open for the Caffé Bronze ECO fountain pen. The Indigo Blue + Bronze ECO has been one of the best-selling TWSBI pens of the past couple years - so much that it sold out and TWSBI had to make more. 1. Traveler’s Company Tokyo Edition Traveler’s Notebook Starter Set. This year, Traveler’s Company gives us a black leather Traveler’s Notebook with Tokyo-themed artwork. Each set contains a Standard-sized notebook cover with a Tokyo-themed blank MD Paper refill.

2. Traveler’s Company Tokyo Brass Pencil. I love that Traveler’s Company is releasing additional limited edition writing instruments. This year’s release is one of the Brass Pencils, and you better believe I snagged one of these for myself.

3. Traveler’s Company Tokyo Edition Refills. You can also purchase additional Tokyo-themed limited edition refills, including a second blank MD-paper refill as well as a “Postcard” refill that contains detachable postcards made from heavy Watercolor stock.

7. Stalogy A5 1/2 Year Notebook, 2024 Special Edition Release in White. This year’s Stalogy limited edition is a bright white A5 1/2-year notebook, featuring Stalogy’s classic grey grid layout with versatile headers that can be used as an undated planner or classic notebook.

8. Tomoe River Paper (Notebooks and Pads). Tomoe River paper is back! While we’ve long had the Lochby A5 refills that feature the 68gsm paper, we now offer 52gsm Tomoe River Paper in the Sanzen formulation, in both cream-colored writing pads and A5 notebooks in dot, graph, and plain rulings.

9. Uni Mitsubishi Jetstream “Bamboo” 4&1 Multi Pens. One of my personal favorite multi pens, the Jetstream “4&1” multi pen contains four excellent Uni Jetstream low viscosity ballpoint refills (black, blue, red, and green), as well as a .5mm “Sharp” mechanical pencil.

10. Tom’s Studio “Studio Pocket” and “Studio” Fountain Pens. While the Architect nibs have sold out (both on my site and elsewhere), we still have the standard fountain pens as well as the “Pro Flex” and “Italic” nibs in limited quantities. We plan to restock on the nibs as soon as possible.

Thursday Drops: New Roterfaden Taschenbegleiters Have Landed; Plus Jetstreams and More!

This week we received a restock of Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter organizers, which included several old favorites such as the recycled leather “LB_23” organizer, a four-clip limited edition (the LTD_020), as well as new colors and layouts. We have all sizes available, ranging from A6 (Roterfaden Small), to A5 (Roterfaden Medium) to A4 (Roterfaden Large).

I ran an Instagram poll the other day asking you all to guess which color I went for: It was the “Mimosa Yellow” in the Bamboo Jetstream 4&1. More and more, I’m opting for yellow/saffron color options.

1. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter. One of our best-selling products over the past year, Roterfaden makes versatile handcrafted organizers from materials that include leather, recycled leather, and even vegan-friendly options such as danceflooring (used to surface ballet studios) and tent fabric! 2. Blackwing One Step Pencil Sharpeners in New Colors! The excellent Blackwing “One Step” long-point sharpeners are now available in white and grey. I love this sharpener for the concave, slightly curved point and the capacity to hold as many as three sharpenings’ worth of shavings.

3. Uni Mitsubishi Jetstream 4+1 Multi Pen, Bamboo Edition. One of my all-time favorite multi pens is now available in the T.G.S. Curated Shop. These muted pastel colors feature a soft matte texture and ship with four different .5mm refills (black, blue, red, and green), plus a .5mm mechanical pencil.

4. Kaweco Sport Piston Filler Fountain Pens. Kaweco released the long-awaited piston-filler version of their Sport fountain pen, which features a matte-black finish and integrated filling system that holds a surprisingly large amount of ink. Be sure to check out my video overview, which shows how this pen compares to the vintage version.

5. Tom’s Studio Fountain Pens. UK-based Tom’s Studio started off making tools for the calligraphy space, but has recently expanded their fountain pen related offerings to include “The Studio” and “The Studio Pocket” fountain pens, as well as a range of specialty nib units that include an exceptionally good broad architect’s nib.

6. Tom’s Studio Lumos Refillable Fineliners. The “Lumos” pens are something I’ve been looking for over the years: a refillable fineliner that actually delivers on performance. Lumos pens use a wick-like capillary filling system that accepts pigmented and fountain pen ink, with interchangeable, replaceable tips in different styles. We did a full review here last week.

7. Lamy AL-Star Special Editions in “Fiery” and “Aquatic”. We currently have stock of the 2024 Lamy AL-Star releases, in fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint formats, as well as a mechanical pencil. Until this past month, I had never actually tried an AL-Star rollerball and came away pleasantly surprised!

8. Lamy 2000 Pens. We received a full restock of Lamy 2000s, including fountain pens, ballpoints, rollerballs and mechanical pencils. The Lamy 2000 remains one of my all-time favorite writing instruments, and a core workhorse in my rotation.

9. Uni-ball One Gel Pens. Uni’s latest gel pen technology features a smooth, bold pigmented ink that makes dark inks darker and colored inks brighter. The One is available in both muted pastel and “Earth Texture” finishes.

10. Allex Scissors. A quality pair of scissors should be at the top of everyone’s list of essential desk accessories. These high-end scissors from Japan come in both fluorine-coated and non-coated versions. (The coating helps if you regularly cut through sticky materials like tape, plus the matte black versions just look cool!

As much as I love black and red color combinations, if you were to ask me for my favorite new arrival, it would be this smoke blue and honey A5, which is a gorgeous pairing.

New Arrivals: Jetstream 4&1 Multi Pens and Uni-ball One Special Editions!

As a self-proclaimed multi pen connoisseur, it was only a matter of time before I really began building out our own multi pen offerings here in the shop. One of my personal favorites is the Uni Mitsubishi Jetstream “4&1” pen, which features a textured (yet still smooth) bamboo grip section, four different Jetstream .5mm refills, and a .5mm mechanical pencil option. The Uni-ball “One” gel pen showcases Uni’s latest gel pen technology - a new smooth, dark ink formulation in both .38mm and .5mm tip sizes.

Uni-ball One Gel Pens are available in both .38mm and .5mm tip sizes. Refills in the stock pens are black, but extra refills in blue, blue-black, red, and orange are also available for purchase separately.

We currently have interesting versions of both the Jetstream 4&1 multi pen and the Uni-ball One gel pen available in the shop. In addition to the “Bamboo” series of the multi pens, we have Uni-ball One pens in both solid muted colors as well as the “Earth Texture” series. Multi Pens start at $25 and Uni-ball One Pens at $4.50. Refills are also available for both.

Thursday Drops: Christmas in April from Kaweco, Lamy, Tom's Studio, and More!

I joked last week in my Patreon newsletter that April can feel like the holiday season for stationery nerds, with a seemingly endless stream of limited and special edition releases hitting the market every week. As of today, we have the new Kaweco Sport Piston Filler in stock, as well as the new Lamy AL-Star pens, a restock of the new Lamy Safari pens, and the Kaweco Collection Apricot Sport. We are also fully reloaded on the Lamy 2000, and now offer the “Blackwood” and “Taxus” ballpoints in two beautiful woodgrain finishes.

Tom’s Studio “Studio Pocket” fountain pens!

The second wave of big news isn’t necessarily a limited or special release, but rather a new brand that we have been exploring over the past couple of weeks. UK-based Tom’s Studio makes a wide range of fountain pens, calligraphy supplies, and refillable fineliners that have captivated our attention. We currently have a small selection of their fountain pens, fineliners, and specialty nibs in stock, and will consider expanding in the future.

1. Kaweco Sport Piston Filler Fountain Pen. The wait is over. After YEARS of demand from Kaweco fans, Kaweco has released the Sport pocket fountain pen with a piston. The initial release comes in black aluminum, and given the demand, we only received a handful of these. Sold in a set with a bottle of Kaweco Royal Blue ink and a commemorative tin.

2. Lamy AL-Star 2024 “Fiery” and “Aquatic” Special Edition Fountain Pens. The latest Lamy AL-Star releases hit the shop Tuesday, including not just the fountain pen but a rollerball, ballpoint, and an Aquatic mechanical pencil. We also have past AL-Star special edition pens in stock, while supplies last, as well as a restock of the popular Lamy Cursive nibs.

3. Kaweco Collection “Apricot Pearl” Sport Fountain Pen. In addition to the Piston Sport fountain pens, we still have stock of the recently released “Apricot Pearl” Sport fountain pens, which is a beautiful translucent orange.

4. Tom’s Studio “Lumos” Refillable Fineliner Pens. A discussed in yesterday’s review, we recently brought in the “Lumos” series of refillable fineliner pens from UK-based Tom’s Studio, which feature as many as 11 different fineliner and other fibre-tipped fineliner-style points to choose from.

5. Tom’s Studio “The Studio” Fountain Pen. Tom’s Studio also makes a well-regarded series of fountain pens in bright anodized colors. The “Studio” is Tom’s Studio’s traditional full-size fountain pen, designed to be used for either calligraphy or everyday writing.

6. Tom’s Studio “The Studio Pocket” Fountain Pen. Not simply a pocket-sized version of the Studio, the “Studio Pocket” features an octagonal cap design and a pen body that posts to full-size. The anodized aluminum finish features textured ridges that provide a nice feel to the barrel, and prevents slippage.

7. Tom’s Studio Specialty Fountain Pen Nibs. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Tom’s Studio line is the availability of their specialty fountain pen nibs, including two different flex options, a cursive italic, and one of the best stock architects I have used. Nib units are purchased separately and compatible with Tom’s Studio fountain pens.

8. Lamy 2000 Ballpoints in “Blackwood” and “Taxus” Woodgrain Finishes. Chalk up another one for the “underrated and overlooked” category! Those who wish the Lamy 2000 would come in a regular finish other than Makrolon or Stainless Steel need to look at these woodgrain versions, as they are gorgeous. While they’ve been around for a while, I’ve actually never seen one in person before! (All other Lamy 2000 models are also restocked as of this morning.)

9. TWSBI Indigo Blue and Bronze ECO Fountain Pens. After being out of stock, this hit release from last season is back in stock. The dark blue and bronze combination has been a runaway favorite.

10. TWSBI Creme and Rose Gold ECO Fountain Pens. Another popular addition to the TWSBI lineup is the Creme and Rose gold, also back in stock after a hiatus!
