Thursday Drops: Huge Diamine Restock, including Lady Grey Inks, Canopus Paper, and More TWSBI!

January 22, 2026

This weekend’s event with Vanness Pens and Matthew Chen is going forward, but we are accelerating the nib grind portion of the weekend to Friday. If you have a Saturday appointment, you can reschedule to a Friday time slot or walk-in on Friday and we will make every effort to work everyone in. And just in time for the event, we have additional Canopus Paper from Yamamoto that arrived this morning, and Diamine Lady Grey! We also have the Colorverse “Red Horse” ink series, as well as Pilot specialty nibs and a general Pilot restock. Finally, TWSBI arrived this morning, with plenty of mediums and broads for nib grinds. We hope to see you this weekend!

Yamamoto Canopus Paper is back in stock, in both Notebook and A4 Looseleaf format.

We will be open today (Thursday 1/22) from 1pm-6pm, and tomorrow (Friday 1/23) from 10am-6pm. If the weather isn’t too bad, we may try to open for part of the day on Saturday but right now we are planning on being closed due to inclement weather.

  1. Canopus A5 Notebooks. Yamamoto Canopus Notebooks are back in stock! We have a healthy supply and these notebooks will be made available at this week’s event.

  2. Canopus A4 Looseleaf Sheets. In addition to the Canopus notebooks, we have added Canopus paper to our range of looseleaf Yamamoto papers in A4 formats.

  3. Canopus Jotters. The Yamamoto Bullet Jotters ship with one pad of Soliste and another of Sheep’s Cloud Bond, but we also have the additional papers including Yamamoto’s own Canopus and Meringue.

  4. Diamine Lady Grey. We have both 80ml and 30ml bottles of Diamine’s recent “Lady Grey” release, as well as a significant restock of requested colors, including Ancient Copper, Sepia, and more.

  5. Diamine 150th Anniversary Inks. We have a full restock of the wedge-shaped 150th Anniversary Diamine Ink Bottles, in all of the colors!

  6. Diamine Ink Cartridge Assortment. Customers have been asking for an assortment of ink cartridges, and we have several of each of the various Diamine assortments.

  7. Colorverse “Red Horse” Limited Edition Inks. Colorverse’s “Year of the Horse” inks feature four different riffs on a single dark red base, with added gold, purple-blue, and dark green shimmer, in addition to the standard red. The purple-blue shimmer is my favorite.

  8. Pilot Custom 743 in Verdigris Green. I managed to snag a couple remaining Verdigris North American exclusives with the FA (Falcon) nib, which is one of the more flexible modern nib options on the market right now.

  9. Pilot Custom 912 with Specialty Nibs. The Custom 912 is a relatively classic, simple pen, but Pilot uses it as a vehicle for their 14k specialty nibs including the FA, PO (Posting), WA (Waverly), and SF (Soft Fine).

  10. Herbin Anniversary Inks (Including Emerald of Chivor). Need a special ink to use in your specialty nib? We have the Herbin Anniversary inks, including Emerald of Chivor, Opale Nocturne, and Kyanite du Népal.

Thursday Drops: Get Organized for 2026 with Kakimori, Leuchtturm1917, Rickshaw and More!

January 8, 2026

2026 is here, and with the new year comes a ton of new arrivals! First up, as noted earlier this week, is our first collaboration with San Francisco-based Rickshaw Bagwords, a “Clouds” pattern designed by a member of our local pen club. We’ve also received a restock of Kakimori notebooks, including new designs, as well as most of the line of Leuchtturm1917 notebooks, including the 120g version with heavier paper and the Bullet Journal collaboration. We’ve also added the Leuchtturm1917 Drehgriffel pens in both gel and ballpoint, as well as the remaining items from our initial Craft Design Technology shipment. Enjoy!

Rickshaw Bagworks’ most recent case design is the Fillmore, which opens like a book to lie flat on your desk. It’s a versatile design that can hold at least 6 pens, more if you pair with the Coozy 1, 2, or 3-pen sleeves which fit inside.

Our Nashville store is open normal hours this week, from 1-6pm on Thursday and Friday and from 10am-6pm on Saturday. Please come by and see these and more in person! Also, be sure and save the date for January 23-24, when Vanness Pens and Matthew’s Nibworks (Matthew Chen) will be joining us for a special Friday and Saturday in-store event. More to follow.

  1. Kakimori Clothbound Notebooks. Japanese boutique stationery brand Kakimori famously releases special edition notebooks each year featuring cloth covers made using traditional Japanese techniques. We’ve recently received a fresh shipment, and while they tend to go fast, there are still several available.

  2. T.G.S. x Rickshaw Bagworks Special Edition “Clouds” Pen Cases. Featuring artwork by Nick Dominguez, who is local to Nashville and an active member of our pen club, these Rickshaw cases come in three different color schemes. Each pattern was hand-drawn using multi-shading fountain pen inks, which makes this collaboration even more special.

  3. Leuchtturm1917 Standard A5 Notebooks. Leuchtturm’s hardcover A5 notebooks are a classic piece of stationery. Their 80g paper is good enough for most EF-M fountain pens, and for years they served as a standard everyday work notebook on which I regularly relied. I even wrote half of a novel in one of the larger “Master” versions. We've had these in-store for a couple of weeks but I’ve only recently gotten my act together and listed them online.

  4. Leuchtturm1917 120g and Bullet Journal Notebooks. While I personally find Leuchtturm’s standard 80g paper adequate for how I use their notebooks, if you’re a fan of broader nibs, wet inks, and even markers, consider the 120g paper. There’s also a series of Bullet Journal co-branded notebooks that use the same heavier stock.

  5. Leuchtturm1917 Softcover Notebooks. I often get asked whether Leuchtturm notebooks can easily fit inside a Roterfaden cover. Hardbacks can be tight, especially if you want to carry multiple notebooks in the cover, but Leuchtturm also makes softcover A5, B5, and B6 books using the same paper which are slimmer and more compatible with some covers.

  6. Leuchtturm Drehgriffel Ballpoints and Gel Pens. The hexagonal Drehgriffel has caught on recently, because it’s surprisingly comfortable and comes in a wide range of colors. (“Rising Sun” is my favorite, and I prefer the fine gel pen over the ballpoint, but both are nice everyday writers.)

  7. Craft Design Technology “Black Edition” Memo Pads and Pencil Sets. I’ve finally been able to list all of the products we received from CDT, including their recently released “Black Edition” memo pads that reflect colored pencils, pens, and standard graphite. The Pencil Set (sold separately) will net you a few colored pencils to use on the black paper, plus a NJK sharpener.

  8. Craft Design Technology A4 Binders. These A4 binders are designed to hold Japanese 30-hole looseleaf paper, which we also carry. Each binder features a signature CDT pattern on the outside, and comes in three different colors.

  9. Tono & Lims Fountain Pen Inks. We’ve added three different lines of Tono & Lims inks, including selections from the Signature Line, the Friendship Line, and the “Adult Night” Line. Given the positive reception to date, we are definitely looking to add more Tono & Lims inks in the future, so keep checking back.

  10. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter Restock. Since the stock changes so frequently, we have broken Roterfaden out into its own “shop” page, so we can better track all the different sizes and keep the stock levels more visible. We currently have various A5 covers, some B6 covers, and a few remaining A5 Slim TGS_25 models.

We currently have Leuchtturm1917 Softcover Notebooks in A5, B5 (Composition), and B6 (Café).

Weekly Drops: Tono & Lims Inks, Kakimori Restock, and More!

January 2, 2026

We’re happy to announce that we’ve received three new lines of ink from Tono & Lims, which is now available for purchase both in shop and online! Those familiar with Tono & Lims know that the brand is the result of a Japanese-South Korean collaboration between Japanese fountain pen enthusiasts and the South Korean ink producer Lim’s Lab. Tono & Lims loves to experiment with color, sheen, shimmer, and inside jokes, so the inks end up being a lot of fun (especially the names). We’ve swatched these inks on multiple papers to showcase how they can look different depending on which specific paper you use!

My personal favorite. A shimmer red with black sheen and a great name.

As noted in Tuesday’s post, we have also restocked products from Kakimori and Object Index, including the Kakimori dip nibs and a new line of miniature nib holders that are slightly smaller than the traditional calligraphy nib holder.

Our Nashville shop will be open from 1-6pm on Friday January 2, and from 10-6pm on Saturday January 3 (normal hours). We’re looking forward to getting back into the swing of things after a busy holiday season!

  1. Tono & Lims Standard Line Inks. The standard line of Tono & Lims inks, with the numbered colors. To start I’ve picked a handful and we will be bringing in more as we get a sense of what people like.

  2. Tono & Lims “Friendship” Line Inks. Ok, so I added some shimmer inks to the T.G.S. curation! This particular ink series is inspired by friends of the Tono & Lims brand, whether that’s collaborators or partner shops or others. There are some particularly interesting color combinations, and shimmer and other special properties are not overwhelming.

  3. Tono & Lims “Adult Night” Inks. No, there’s nothing inappropriate going on here. This line of inks - mostly lightly scented - is themed around coffee, tea, and chocolate, with a touch of insomnia thrown in. (And Dynamite?)

  4. Kakimori Dip Nibs. We’ve received a restock of the Kakimori conical metal nibs, as well as the standard writing nib which functions much like a fountain pen only there is no feed and is intended more for writing.

  5. Kakimori Nib Holders. The standard Kakimori nib holders are available again in the Sakura wood finish. This is the longer nib holder in the classic shape.

  6. Kakimori Mini Nib Holders. These “mini” nib holders are slightly smaller and more compact than a traditional nib holder, making it perfect for travel, portability, and those with smaller hands. It’s also a fun range of colors!

  7. Object Index Modular Marker. We’ve brought back a selection of Kakimori’s popular “Object Index” line of high-end office supplies, including these “Modular Markers” that allow you to build a set of customizable fineliners and highlighters that stack in a way that lets you easily cycle through different tip sizes.

  8. Kakimori Colour Liners Fineliner Markers. Kakimori first popularized fineliners that you can fill with your own inks to create a truly custom set. Several different tip sizes are available, ranging from standard writing points to chisel-tip markers for highlighting or drawing.

  9. Pilot Prera Fountain Pens. The popular solid-color Pilot Prera fountain pens are back in stock, including the coveted Honey Yellow in both nib sizes.

  10. The Roterfaden Shop at T.G.S. We are restocked on most versions of the Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter, including many different A5 designs and a handful of remaining TGS_25 in Grey. While we want to keep this special release in stock, there is no scheduled restock date at the moment on either the grey or green A5-Slim, and we are unable to take pre-orders or deposits.

Allex Desk Scissors from Japan are now available in four different formats. Black Fluorine version is restocked, and we also have Jagged Blade (for cutting vinyl, etc.) and Thin Blade (for fine detail work) versions available.

Craft Design Technology collaborates extensively with Pentel, releasing their own versions of pens like the Pentel Energel, the Pentel Tradio, and the Pentel Sign Pen.

Weekly Drops: Got Gift Cards to Burn? New TWSBIs, a Roterfaden Restock, and More!

December 26, 2025

The week between Christmas and New Year’s marks that special time when everyone starts to (1) spend their holiday gift money/gift cards and (2) retailers look to clear out their excess inventory. To that end, everything in the T.G.S. Clearance section will now receive an automatic 25% off at checkout, no coupon code necessary. We’ve also received the latest TWSBI release “Obsidian,” as well as a large Roterfaden restock that has many different sizes in stock in addition to the standard A5! Finally, be sure to check out the latest arrivals from Japan, including special edition releases from Craft Design Technology and Graphilo!

CDT is a Tokyo and UK-based design house that collaborates with traditional manufacturers such as Pilot, Pentel, and more on their own versions of classic stationery items. These including multi-pens like the Zebra Sharbo and Pilot Frixion 3, a Pentel Sharp Kerry, Camel pencils, writing pads and notebooks, and even leather items. We are constantly adding more as they arrive, so stay tuned.

We will be open in our Nashville store normal hours (1-6pm Friday and 10am-6pm Saturday). Please come by and see us!

  1. TWSBI Obsidian Piston Filler. The latest TWSBI acrylic piston filler limited release has landed, and it’s a beautiful pearlescent black acrylic with rose gold trim. We still have a (very) small number of the TWSBI “Kai” release from last year, if you prefer the blue.

  2. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter B5 Size. We’ve restocked on most Roterfaden sizes, but the increasingly popular B5 is the one we’re asked about the most. This will hold B5 notebooks as well as standard composition books.

  3. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter A4 Size. We have a few larger-format A4 Taschenbegleiters in black. We get requests to bring in A4 but it’s definitely a larger portfolio so these restocks tend to be fewer in number.

  4. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter TGS_25. Our store-exclusive A5-slim Roterfaden is still available in grey leather, with either the grey or green elastic. We have a growing selection of A5-Slim notebooks, including newly arrived Graphilo offerings! More on those below.

  5. Craft Design Technology Leather Pen/Pencil Cases. These zippered leather cases can hold either pens or pencils, and will age/patina beautifully. Available in either black or brown leather.

  6. Craft Design Technology x Pentel Mechanical Pencil. So far, this CDT special edition mechanical pencil that is based on the iconic Pentel Sharp Kerry is a top seller.

  7. Craft Design Technology Desk Note Bagasse Notebooks. These landscape-style notebooks feature CDT’s signature green color and fountain pen friendly Bagasse paper, which is made from sugarcane waste and handles most inks extremely well. The Desk Note is available in two sizes and designed to sit beneath a keyboard while you work.

  8. Craft Design Technology Notepads. Available in either A5 or A6, with a mint green or natural color, this textured paper is pleasant to write on and features a smaller grid for jotting notes or even drawing.

  9. Graphilo A5-Slim Notebooks. The A5 Slim format is becoming increasingly popular, and Graphilo has released these notebooks with lined, grid, blank or “Ciro” (white line) layouts. Each notebook contains 188 pages of fountain pen friendly Graphilo paper.

  10. Graphilo Notebooks and Looseleaf Paper. In addition to the A5 Slim format, Graphilo makes notebooks in traditional A5, Square, and A4 sizes, and even has looseleaf sheets available in both A4 and A5.

Thursday Drops: Last Minute Gifts and Unique New Arrivals! Craft Design Technology, Graphilo, and Musgrave!

December 18, 2025

Well, it’s the week before Christmas, so if you’re relying on the internet to get you something shipped, mailed, and delivered in time, the best-case scenario is that you roll the dice and you luck out and it arrives on the 23rd or the 24th. There are simply no guarantees at this point. That said, we are here to help you in-person, and we have a ton of cool stuff that’s arrived in-store, including several recent Japan shipments containing Craft Design Technology, Graphilo, and more! If you’re short on ideas, you can check out our Holiday Gift Guide, and most of what we highlight there continues to be in stock.

These CDT Pentel Sign Pens, featuring a soft brush tip, have been heavily requested by in-store and online customers.

Craft Design Technology is a design house based in Japan and the U.K., best known for partnering with manufacturers on specialized custom versions of classic stationery items such as the Zebra Sharbo Multi Pen, Pentel Sign Pen, Pilot Frixion, and more. I have followed their work for years and am thrilled to be able to offer teir goods directly. As discussed in Tuesday’s post, we’ve also recently added Graphilo to our lineup of specialty Japanese papers, and people seem to be enjoying it because it’s flying out the door. Finally, we’re excited to restock on many of our Musgrave pencils, including the Heritage collection sets that offer a way to try out different Musgrave pencils and also have a cool pencil-themed case and pencil cup.

Our Nashville shop is open this week from 1-6pm on Thursday and Friday, and from 10am-6pm on Saturday. Check the shop page and on our Google profile for hours.

  1. Craft Design Technology x Zebra Multifunctional Pen. Years ago, the Zebra Sharbo was the trendy multi pen, known for its D1 gel refills that ran out in approximately 2 hours. Craft Design Technology has partnered with Zebra to release it’s own design in matte black and silver, substituting the gel refills for low-viscosity ballpoints and a .5mm mechanical pencil. For those who find other multi pens too long and clunky, this one is almost perfectly balanced.

  2. Craft Design Technology x Pilot Frixion 3 Multi Pen. Yes, the Pilot Frixion comes in a Dr. Grip-style 3-slot multi pen, complete with three different ink options and the Frixion eraser. Available in CDT’s dark green colorway. Refills available separately by individual color or a multi-pack.

  3. Craft Design Technology x Pentel Tradio Plastic Fountain Pen. A hybrid between a fountain pen and a fineliner, the Tradio adds a touch of softness to your writing to make it more expressive. Of all the CDT collaborations, the Tradio has been the one I’ve used the most, since the ink dries very quickly and makes an excellent planner pen. Tradio refills available separately.

  4. Craft Design Technology Brush Sign Pens. One of the most-requested items is now available! These soft-tip fineliners/markers/brush pens are sold individually in 10 different colors or come in two different assortment packs of 5 or 10 pens.

  5. Craft Design Technology Desk Note Notebooks. These landscape-style notebooks are made from bagasse paper, a byproduct of sugarcane processing. Bagasse paper is quite fountain pen friendly, and I’ve found that this particular notebook handles not just fountain pen inks but markers and other writing instruments as well.

  6. Kobeha Graphilo Paper. Developed specifically for use with fountain pens, Graphilo has developed a cult following over the years. Available in multiple formats, including A5, Square, and a 188-page A5-Slim (which will work with our Roterfaden TGS_25).

  7. Musgrave Heritage Pencil Assortment Pack. These popular pencil assortments have arrived just in time for Christmas, and yes you can reuse the pencil box as a pencil/pen stand or pencil case.

  8. Musgrave Highlighter Pencil Set. I can never stock too many highlighter pencils, and these 8-packs contain two of each color in a relatively rare slim barrel design.

  9. Musgrave Songwriter Pencils (Including Special Edition Blue Set). The 4B Songwriter pencil sold out nearly immediately when we had it in stock early in the year, and we’ve restocked on both the standard cream version as well as the new special edition Teal Blue set.

  10. Musgrave “Tennessee Red” Pencils. The Tennessee Red features the highly aromatic Eastern Red Cedar wood, which used to be a staple of pencil manufacturing until it was abandoned in favor of the more readily available Incense Cedar. A few years back, Musgrave sourced some slats to make the Tennessee Red, and it’s one of the more unique offerings.

The Craft Design Technology “Desk Note” in Large and Small Size.
