Thursday Drops: Happy Inky Thursday! New Inks from Anderillium, Papier Plume, Swatch Books and More

June 5, 2025

If last month was “Pencil Month,” maybe this month will be “Ink Month?” We’re building out our lineup of inks to offer both in-store and online, including an entire new line of Anderillium Inks (“Ichthyoformes Series”), the Classic Collection from Papier Plume, and another Iroshizuku restock. As noted last week, we have a huge shipment of new Pilot multi pens, ballpoints, and mechanical pencils, as well as the latest TWSBI ECO in Matcha Green, and the Pilot E95s in all sizes in burgundy and black!

Finally, we’ve had a great response to the new Laconic notebooks and refills we received last week. While many of the A5 6-ring binder inserts are sold out, we still have lots of the new planner stickers, A5 softcover notebooks, and bookmarks, with another order of the binder inserts on the way.

We are back to normal hours this week in-store, open from 1-6pm Thursday and Friday, and from 10am-6pm on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

  1. Papier Plume Ink Swatch Album Sets. These Bible-sized binders from Papier Plume/San Lorenzo contain plastic holders for 60 swatch cards, and come with a separate card holder full of Col-o-Ring swatch cards cut down to business card size to fit the album.

  2. Papier Plume Classic Collection Fountain Pen Inks. These Papier Plume inks are from their Classic Series, and include long-time favorites such as Moss Green and Oyster Grey.

  3. Anderillium Ichthyoformes Series Fountain Pen Inks. Be sure to check out yesterday’s epic YouTube video, in which I swatched all 8 of the latest releases from Anderillium. There are three dark red inks that I’m really enjoying, including two that would qualify as red-blacks.

  4. TWSBI Diamond Ink Bottles. These ink bottles can function as your standard uncap-and-dip ink bottles, or you can remove the grip section of a TWSBI Diamond-series pen and fill directly from the barrel without dipping the nib.

  5. Pilot 4+1 Multi Pens. These Acro-ink gel pens feature Pilot’s own low-viscosity ink formulation in a familiar 4-color ballpoint plus .5mm mechanical pencil format. Four muted colors complete the package.

  6. Pilot Legno 2+1 Multi Pens in Striated and Natural Hardwood. The striated wood Pilot Legnos are what drew me to this line, but the story behind the hardwood versions (North American Hard Maple used for baseball bats?) has me fascinated by these as well.

  7. Laconic Tokyo Undated Planner Refills, Notebooks, and Stickers. We’re almost completely sold out of the A5 6-ring binder editions, but we have the new planner stickers as well as additional planner bookmarks and A5 notebooks.

  8. TWSBI ECO Matcha Green Fountain Pen. TWSBI’s latest ECO release is a tea-green, designed to complement the rest of the espresso-themed breakfast collection.

  9. Pilot E95s Fountain Pens. Now available in all colors and available sizes, including EF. The E95s is the current heir to the vintage integrated nib models that include the Myu and Murex models.

  10. Pilot Iroshizuku Fountain Pen Inks. Just today we received another shipment of Iroshizuku ink, and have the new colors (Syun-Gyo, Rikka, and To-ro) back in stock alongside most of the old favorites. I recently did a post on my personal favorites from this line.

I almost forgot to mention that this past weekend we also added the Laconic A5 Field Folio, which is an A5 clipboard/calendar pad that is customizable with refills.

Thursday Drops: Even More Multi Pen Madness, Plus Pilot S20s, Sarasas and Jetstreams

May 29, 2025

I guess we’re the multi pen people now, huh? This week we received a large shipment of unique multi pens direct from Japan, including the Pilot Legno 2+1 in five woodgrain finishes, Pilot 4+1 multi pens featuring ultra smooth Acro-Ink, and while not a multi pen, additional stock of the excellent Pilot S20 Ballpoints and matching mechanical pencils.

TWSBI has also released its latest ECO color: Matcha Green, which fills a gap in the current color lineup. After some prodding, we also put in a test order for the TWSBI Diamond 50ml ink bottles, which allow you to fill your TWSBI 580s without dipping the nib. Finally, we’ve reupped on all the Jetstream refills, in both the Uni proprietary formats and the universal styles.

We have slightly revised in-store hours this week: We will be open from 1-6pm Thursday and Friday, per the usual, and then from 8-10am on Saturday morning and 1-5pm on Sunday, due to some scheduling conflicts. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

  1. Pilot Legno 2+1 Multi Pens. These gorgeous woodgrain multi pens match the color scheme of the S20 Ballpoint, plus add three new options (Black, Natural Wood, and Mahogany). Each pen ships with two D1 refills (black and red) plus a .5mm mechanical pencil. Because the pen uses the universal D1 size, you can customize with whatever ink/refill system you like.

  2. Pilot 4+1 Multi Pens. The Japanese counterpart to the classic “Dr. Grip” 4+1 multi pen that you can find here in the states, this version features .5mm Acro-ink refills in four colors, plus a .5mm mechanical pencil. This series pairs four muted colors with an unvarnished wood grip that shows off the grain.

  3. TWSBI ECO Matcha Green Fountain Pen. Looking for something a little lighter to complement darker “Breakfast Collection”? TWSBI’s latest ECO release is a light tea green (as you would expect) and available in all nib sizes.

  4. Pilot S20 Ballpoint Pens and Mechanical Pencils. Wishing we offered a set of the Pilot S20 pens and pencils? Now you can build one! The Pilot S20 .5mm mechanical pencil feels just as nice in the hand as the S20 ballpoint.

  5. TWSBI Diamond 50ml Ink Bottles. Enough people asked about these that we decided to do a test order! The TWSBI ink bottle allows you to fill your TWSBI Diamond 580 (or similar earlier TWSBI piston-filler model) without dipping the nib in the ink, and allows you to fill other pens using a reservoir system. If there’s an ink brand that you love that otherwise has impractical ink bottles, consider a third-party solution!

  6. Pilot Decimo Capless Fountain Pens. All colors are now available, as we just added the burgundy and white models to our selection. Many people prefer the slimmer Decimo to the larger Vanishing Point, and if you’ve found that the Vanishing Point clip interferes with your grip, moving to the Decimo sometimes improves things.

  7. Zebra Sarasa Grand Vintage Gel Pens. These high-end Sarasa pens actually match the refill to the anodization, which is somewhat rare. (Usually the “higher end” gel pen bodies ship with a standard blue or black refill.) .5mm and .3mm options are available, as well as additional refills in the muted “Vintage” series of colors.

  8. Uni Jetstream Prime Lite Touch 3 Multi Pen. The Jetstream Lite Touch refill has, deservedly, received a lot of attention as an incremental improvement to the already excellent Uni Jetstream low-viscosity ballpoint. This 3 slot multi pen is a very nice higher-end professional option that comes in three unique matte finishes. You can read our full review of this multi pen here.

  9. Uni Jetstream Lite Touch 4+1 Multi Pen. The standard Jetstream 4+1 Multi Pen is also available with the updated Lite Touch refills. (You can still buy both the original Jetstream and Lite Touch Jetstream multi pen refills, depending on your preference.)

  10. Notsu Index Card Systems and Refills. We are fully restocked on all of the Notsu card sets, replacement cards, and other accessories. These are some of the best fountain pen friendly index cards out there, and are available in a wide variety of different formats.

Check out the woodgrain on that multi pen grip!

Thursday Drops: Notsu Restock, Zebra Sarasa Grands, and Memorial Day Weekend Sale and Clearance

May 22, 2025

You all really can’t get enough of the index cards! We were basically sold out as of yesterday afternoon, but today I picked up a fresh box in the mail from Notsu, which included not just additional Centre Rise notecard sets but also 3x5 Dot Grid Cards with rounded corners. Other new arrivals include a restock of the Zebra Sarasa Grand Vintage gel pens (the upgraded anodized models) in most of the popular .5mm tip size, as well as additional TRAVELER’S Notebooks in Olive and Camel. (The Camel has been backordered for a long time, and I know people have been waiting for it.)

Oh, and a bonus: The “New” Iroshizuku colors are back in stock! Syun-gyo, Rikka, and To-ro are all available in relatively limited quantities, but hopefully they will be easier to restock going forward.

For Memorial Day Weekend, all items in the Clearance and Sale section receive an automatic 20% off, instead of the usual 15%. Our pencil sale continues through the end of the month (excluding Blackwing and TWSBI products). Use “PENCIL10” at checkout to claim your discount. The physical store will be open Thursday and Friday 1-6pm, and Saturday from 10am-6pm, with potential Sunday hours given that it’s a long weekend. Stay tuned.

  1. Notsu Centre Rise Card Sets. You all keep buying them, so we’ll keep restocking them for as long as we can, in whatever colors we can get! The Notsu Centre Rise includes 50 Vertical “To Do” Notecards, dividers, and a magnetic carrying case that doubles as a notecard stand for your desk.

  2. Notsu 3x5 Dot Grid Index Cards. The standard Notsu 3x5 Dot Grid Index Cards with rounded edges are back! These cards likewise fit the Centre Rise cases, and can be used interchangeably with the “To Do” system.

  3. Notsu Dot Grid Writing Pads. Notsu also makes letter-sized and A5-ish Dot Grid writing pads, which are great general-use desktop paper pads.

  4. Notsu Index Card Holder. These vegan leather card sleeves hold a handful of 3x5 index cards, with a magnetic “portfolio” feature to hold one card while writing, along with a pen loop.

  5. Zebra Sarasa Grand Gel Pen Restock. These excellent gel pens are back in stock in the upgraded “Sarasa Grand” style, which features a textured anodized metal barrel with a matching refill. Extra refills are available separately. The .5mm had almost completely sold out, but is now available in all shades.

  6. Maruman Spiral Note Basic Notebooks. These simple, utilitarian notebooks from Maruman feature slightly lighter paper than the flagship Mnemosyne lineup, but handle fountain pen ink just fine and are an excellent economical option for everyday writing. Multiple rulings available in both A5 and B5 sizes.

  7. Traveler’s Notebooks in All Colors. All colors are back in stock as of yesterday, including the Standard Size in Camel and Olive. Get ready for your summer adventures with a brand new Traveler’s Notebook!

  8. Lochby Field Folio. If the narrower width of the Traveler’s Notebook doesn’t suit your needs, consider the A5 Lochby Field Folio, which is a zippered version of the classic Lochby Field Journal minus the hook-and-loop closure. The Field Folio also contains an interior pen loop.

  9. Lochby Field Journal and Pocket Journal Refills. We recently received a massive restock of the Lochby A5 and pocket-sized notebooks, all of which contain 68gsm Tomoe River paper. These can be used with the Lochby cases, or with any similarly sized notebook system.

  10. Lochby B5 and A5 Slim Notebooks. AND, Lochby has recently released a larger B5 version of their slim notebooks, as well as an A5 Slim Version which should fit Travelers and other similarly sized A5 Slim/Personal notebooks.

AND the last TGS x Sunderland Special Edition is in the case. Anyone want it?

Thursday Drops: What, There's Another Lamy Multi Pen? Plus Some Really Good Inexpensive Notebooks

May 15, 2025

Somehow I missed the memo that all of Lamy’s multi pens feature the same “gravity” switch mechanism as my beloved Lamy 2000 4-color ballpoint. Just this week I got my hands on the Logo Tri Pen, which at only $40 is a very nice multi pen that also accepts D1 refills. I think I need to build out the rest of the Lamy multi pen lineup…. In addition to the Logo Tri Pen, we have additional Lamy 2000 multi pens back in stock, along with the Uni Jetstream “Pure Malt” 4+1, and the Lamy 2000 Blackwood and Taxus pens.

I’m somewhat irrationally excited about the Maruman Spiral Note Basic Notebooks. I’ve been looking for a relatively inexpensive fountain pen friendly “working” notebook to stock as a shop standard, and I may settle on these. Available in B5 and A5, they come in a wide range of different rulings. Finally, don’t forget that this month is Pencil Month at T.G.S., with 10% off all pencils and pencil-related items (excluding TWSBI and Blackwing) through the end of May. Just use the coupon code “PENCIL10” at checkout to claim your discount.

We’re open this weekend! Come see us in person at our Nashville location from 1pm-6pm Thursday and Friday, and Saturdays from 10am-6pm.

  1. Lamy Logo Tri-Pen. The Lamy Tri Pen is one of those “back catalog” products that I missed, but it features the same turn-and-click gravity-driven mechanism as found in the Lamy 2000 multi pen, one of my all-time favorites.

  2. Lamy Safari Dark Dusk and Sunset. This year’s Lamy Safari release returned to a monochromatic look, with dark glossy blue and a coral pink matte finishes to choose from. We have all formats (fountain pen, ballpoints, rollerballs, and mechanical pencils).

  3. Lamy 2000 4-Color Ballpoint (Multi Pen). Yes, they are finally back in stock! One of the top sellers in our shop, across all categories, the Lamy 2000 multi pen has long been a personal favorite for everyday work due to it’s compatibility with a wide range of D1 refills. You can read more about this pen and why we like it here.

  4. Lamy 2000 Blackwood and Taxus Ballpoint Pens. Yet another deep-cut from the Lamy catalog! These upscale wood ballpoints feature a polished finish and take the same Lamy M16 refill (or compatible substitute) as other Lamy ballpoints.

  5. Uni “Pure Malt” Multi Pens and Ballpoints. Uni’s “Pure Malt” series, which features pens made from the woods used in Japanese whisky barrels, has been a cult favorite in Japan. We’re now happy to offer both the standard ballpoint and the Jetstream 4+1 Multi Pen in this finish.

  6. Maruman Spiral Note Basic Notebooks. These simple spirals are perfect for work, school, and other everyday writing. We’re trying to add more relatively inexpensive fountain pen friendly paper where we can, given rising costs. These versatile notebooks are available in B5 and A5, currently.

  7. Lochby 68gsm Tomoe River Notebooks. We are fully restocked on Lochby notebooks in nearly all sizes and rulings. (If it was available, we ordered it.) This includes A5, Pocket, B5 and A5 Slim.

  8. New Tom’s Studio Fountain Pen Ink: Peaches & Cream (No. 20) and Ivy (No. 21). Tom’s Studio has released two new fountain pen inks, both of which feature some nice shading. Customers have responded well to the Tom’s Studio line of bottled inks, and I’m glad they continue to expand the offerings.

  9. Tom’s Studio Lumos 11-Tip Set. You can once again separately purchase the full 11-tip set, which is the same set of 11-tips that is included with the original purchase of a Lumos Refillable Fineliner pen.

  10. Tom’s Studio Lumos Grip and Rollstop. These are back in stock in black and natural leather, as well as a stitched cork version. If you find the Lumos a touch narrow for your comfort, these sleeves may help, and they also function as a rollstop to help prevent your pen from rolling off the desk.

I love these Appointed Pencils, especially the round gray washed finish with the gold cap.

Thursday Drops: New Lochby Sizes, Yamamoto Paper Tastings, Appointed Pencils and Notebooks

May 8, 2025

There’s lots of exciting new things to report today on the paper front, including new paper sizes and formats from Lochby, fun Letterpress notepads from the Well-Appointed Desk, and an entire new line of U.S.-sourced paper from Appointed, based in Washington, D.C. We’ve also built out our Yamamoto Paper sampler offerings with the “Paper Tastings” series, which currently feature seven different combinations of unusual Japanese papers that you’re unlikely to find outside of samplers like these.

Thin Papers, Planner Papers, Onionskin Paper, Gray Paper, we have all sorts of samplers for you to explore!

On a somewhat somber note, the word is that Write Notepads will no longer be making retail products, so what we have from them is likely it for the time being. We’ve double-checked our stock, and everything that we currently have available (the Landscape Weekly Planner) is listed on the site. I’ve made an effort to start bringing in products from smaller companies such as Well-Appointed Desk and Skylab, Appointed, and Musgrave here in the U.S. Just a reminder that if you like a small business, and enjoy their product, they won’t be around forever if you don’t actually support them, especially in this environment!

Everything shown here is also in our brick and mortar shop, which will be open Thursday and Saturday this week, and this Friday by appointment. Typically we have regular Friday hours, but I need to finish upgrading some displays and plan to take the afternoon to do that work. Come see us on Saturday and check out the new look!

  1. Appointed Notebooks and Pencils. Washington, D.C.-based Appointed makes gorgeous notebooks and other stationery items, featured wonderfully textured paper that’s one of the best pencil papers I’ve used. Note that American paper is more absorbent than most and will not be the best for extremely wet fountain pens.

  2. Well-Appointed Desk Notepads and Calendar Stickers. Want some irreverent letterpress notepads? These will look great on your desk at work. (They do on mine.) Oh, and we have some fun Calendar stickers too! Add these for planner functionality in any notebook!

  3. Lochby 68gsm Tomoe River Notebooks. One of the last regularly available sources of my beloved 68gsm Tomoe River Paper (and in dot grid nonetheless), Lochby has released their notebooks in a few new sizes, including B5, A5 Slim/Personal, and a new Planner format for their 3.5” x 5.5” pocket notebooks.

  4. Yamamoto Paper Tasting Samplers. One of my favorite ways to explore different types of rare papers is via Yamamoto’s carefully selected “Paper Tasting” samplers, each of which contains three different sizes of notepads (B7-A6), and three different papers grouped by shared characteristics. For example, there is an eggshell-texture pack, an onionskin pack, a gray pack and more.

  5. TWSBI Precision “Gemini Blue” and TWSBI ECO Slate Blue and Onyx Fountain Pens. We have more of TWSBI’s latest releases, including the long-awaited Gemini Blue and the popular ECO Slate Blue fountain pens.

  6. Yamamoto A4 Paper Packs. Each Yamamoto Paper Pack contains 50 sheets of A4 rare and/or discontinued Japanese Paper, including OK Fools, Tomoe River varieties, Soliste, and new arrivals such as Sheeps Cloud Bond Paper.

  7. Yamamoto A5 Writing Pads. We have additional stock of the Yamamoto Paper A5 Writing Pads that include fountain pen friendly favorites such as Sanzen Tomoe River, Tomoegawa Tomoe River, and Bank Paper, which I’ve heard is being discontinued.

  8. Sunderland mk1 Machined Pens. We now carry the entire line of anodized Sunderland mk1 rollerballs, which ship with a Pilot G2 refill and also fits the threaded Montblanc-style rollerball refills and fineliners. (We have one last T.G.S. x Sunderland special edition in stock.)

  9. Notsu Centre Rise Notecard Sets. We have additional stock of the orange and black Notsu Centre Rise Notecard sets (which are the cardboxes that ship with 50 cards and feature the magnetic card stand).

  10. Notsu Notecard Holders. These vegan leather notecard holders from Notsu will hold a handful of cards in reserve, along with a pen, as well as provide a firm writing surface for the card you’re working on at the time.

We have been known to sell other irreverent stationery from time to time.
