New Arrivals: TWSBI Obsidian Fountain Pens, Plus a Roterfaden Restock!

TWSBI’s latest limited edition piston filler has arrived, featuring a pearlescent black acrylic paired with rose gold trim. Like the TWSBI Kai (of which we still have exactly one available), the new TWSBI Obsidian will be available for a limited run. TWSBI releases this particular style approximately once a year, and sometimes less frequently. These pens are available for purchase now and will ship starting today.

Most Roterfaden Sizes Are Restocked - Please Visit the New Dedicated Roterfaden Shop Page

Unless you’re shopping in person with us today, these won’t arrive in time for Christmas, but we did receive a large restock of Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter covers, including less-common sizes such as B5 and A4, as well as Four-Clip covers. Going forward, Roterfaden products will be listed on their own dedicated section of the shop, since the stock changes frequently and it is easier to maintain this way. Please understand that we are not holding back stock and because the holiday season is busy, we have been unable to respond to inquiries about whether specific sizes and colors are available. If it is not listed on the Roterfaden page or showing as unavailable, we do not currently have it in stock.

We have holiday hours in the Nashville shop today from 1-6pm, and will be closed to in-person shopping tomorrow (12/23) and Thursday (12/24). We will reopen Friday and Saturday during normal store hours.

New Arrivals: The Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter TGS_25 Is Back, with a New Color!

Late last week we received a fresh shipment of our exclusive Roterfaden collaboration, the TGS25 A5 Slim format! This release has been hugely successful, so in addition to the original dark green leather with dark grey suede interior combination, we’ve added a grey leather with light green interior version. Both options come with your choice of a light green or light grey elastic.

The TGS25 is A5 Slim size, meaning that it is designed to fit refills that are the same height as your classic A5 notebook but slightly narrower. Any refill with 8.3” x 4.3” dimensions is compatible, plus any A5 notebook you might want to cut down to a narrower size. (Stàlogy is a favorite of many people for this type of modification.) Roterfaden TGS25 covers are available to ship immediately!

Kaweco Sport Fountain Pens Are Back in Stock!

Also, as a bit of an added update, Kaweco Sport and AL-Sport Fountain Pens are now back in stock. We finally received a restock from the distributor, and have the foldable mini converters as well.

Roterfaden TGS_25 Update and Final DC Pickup Instructions!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled stationery programming for this public service announcement: Due to the interest in our recent Roterfaden collaboration, the TGS_25, we’ve been offered and have decided to do another full run! Many of you have been e-mailing me, but unfortunately we are not equipped to do a wait list or hold stock upon request. Here’s how this will work:

• Once I receive notice from Roterfaden that the Taschenbegleiters are ready, I will post an announcement so that people can start watching the site for news/updates.

• Once I receive notice from DHL that the package has been shipped to me and cleared customs, I will post additional stock for pre-purchase. Typically, this happens 5 days or so before they actually arrive, but sometimes it’s quicker.

• As always, some stock will initially be set aside for Patreon supporters, who continue to receive special pricing on exclusives as part of their benefits.

• Based on the recent trade announcement, I do not currently believe that the new agreement will require a price adjustment. If everything remains stable, the TGS_25 will continue to be priced at $195. That said, because costs have been so unpredictable, I have to leave open the possibility of an adjustment as this is an expensive project.

DC Pen Show Update: July 31, 2025 - August 3, 2025

This coming weekend is DC Pen Show Weekend! For details on our workshops and where we’ll be located, check out our post from last week.

Any orders placed for D.C. Pickup are already on their way to D.C. with a friend, so the current “DCPICKUP” code is limited to those products that I will be carrying with me to the show (Roterfaden and Lochby). If you would like to reserve a product from one of these lines for show pickup, please get your order in by the end of the day today as I will be fully packed by tomorrow morning. Currently we have stock of most versions of the A5 Roterfadens since the last order was quite large. (We do not have any remaining stock of the TGS_25, and I will not have any with me in D.C.) The code will drop any shipping charge at checkout.

Just a friendly reminder that our local shop is closed this upcoming Friday and Saturday because we will be attending the Washington, D.C. Pen Show! We will have special hours on Thursday (10am-2pm), and if there is something you’re looking to pick up at the store you can always make an appointment to shop in person. I hope to see many of you this weekend!

Introducing the T.G.S. x Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter TGS_25: Available Now!

Over the years many have asked where I obtained my A5-slim Roterfaden, which has made an appearance both here on the blog and in YouTube videos. That particular release was a special edition, long-since discontinued, and Roterfaden was kind enough to agree to bring it back for us in what’s been dubbed the “Taschenbegleiter TGS_25”, with a soft olive green exterior leather and a dark grey suede interior! It’s a flexible size, with the cover not designed to fit any specific refill: It measures roughly 5” x 8.6”, and will accommodate any A5 Slim/Personal-sized notebooks up to 4.3” (wide) by 8.3” (tall) dimensions. The Roterfaden system operates with stainless steel clips, which conveniently slide up and down to accommodate variations in notebook height.

There are two elastic options: The green elastic above and the grey elastic shown here. All cords are both removable and replaceable.

These are available now in the main T.G.S. shop, with Patreon supporters having their own listing with a special pricing opportunity via the Patreon Shop. (Patrons be sure to check the main feed and Discord for details.) We carry a wide range of notebooks and refills that could potentially fit this cover, and also recently procured a commercial paper cutter that allows us to trim notebooks to size. Please e-mail me or reach out via the “Contact” link if you are interested in this service and whether it is possible with a specific notebook. There will be no charge, but once a notebook is cut down any sales will be final.

While I can’t guarantee how many Taschenbegleiters will last through the weekend, our brick-and-mortar will be open this week so please do stop by! We are open Thursday and Friday from 1pm-6pm, and on Saturday from 10am-6pm, and otherwise by appointment. Hope to see you soon!

New Arrivals: Roterfaden Restock! A4 and A5 Sizes, Plus New Accessories!

Roterfaden is back for the first restock of 2025! We just received a large shipment of A4 and A5 Taschenbegleiters, Notebooks, and Sheet Protectors. The Taschenbegleiters include a heavy restock of the black cover/red elastic combinations, as many of you reached out asking when that specific colorway would come back. We also have several of the four-clip models (the Taschenbegleiter LTD_020 and Taschenbegleiter LTD_15).
