Curated Shop Updates: Keith Haring from Caran d'Ache, plus the Rylsee "Creative Nomad" Fixpencil Set

I love the fall, not least because it’s always time for another round of Caran d’Ache collaboration releases! This year’s offerings feature a line of products inspired by pop artist Keith Haring, as well as a special edition Fixpencil set developed in collaboration with the Swiss lettering artists Rylsee. The latter is a truly special release, as it includes not only the Rylsee signature Fixpencil but a set of 3B leads, eraser, plus a set of Fibralo brush and fibre-tipped pens along with access to an online lettering course!

Shown here is the Caran d’Ache Keith Haring Colour Set, which includes 10 water soluble colored pencils plus a Fibralo brush pen. Use them with the Keith Haring A5 Colour Pad, featuring 20 different prints.

Curated Shop Updates: New Arrivals from TWSBI!

It’s here! The latest release in a string of exceptional new releases from TWSBI is the TWSBI ECO-T in “Rosso” - the first red pen that TWSBI has done in a while, and I believe the first in the ECO family. For those unfamiliar with this particular model, the TWSBI ECO-T features a subtly triangular grip section, which I personally find very comfortable. You can read more on this particular pen and how it compares to other triangular grip pens here.

We also have additional stock of the TWSBI Kai, the latest edition of TWSBI’s special model that they reissue every couple of years. Previously available in “Aurora” (marbled green) and “Draco” (marbled red) finishes, the new Kai is a deep blue paired with warm rose gold. Mine gets inked up this week!

Thursday Drops: Roterfaden, Round 2! Plus Lochby Tomoe River Refills, TWSBI Kai on the Way, and More!

Additional Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter organizers began hitting the shop last night, and as of this morning, I’ve listed the last of the new stock. After the success of the last run, I decided to expand the range of Roterfaden good that I carry to include more sizes and finishes. There are some stunning pieces in this shipment, including two versions of the Taschenbegleiter with covers made from printing blanket scraps (DB22 and DT20): these are similar to the vegan leather “danceflooring” covers, but made from natural rubber with a cotton backing and have a slightly stiffer feel similar to the recycled leather covers. All sizes (A6, A5, and A4) are currently in stock.

We also have a shipment of TWSBI Kai fountain pens that are on their way to us. I understand that these limited run pens will be made in three batches, and this is the second. They should arrive sometime over the weekend so we’re opening the Kai back up to pre-orders today.

1. Roterfaden Taschenbegleiter Organizers. Featuring a versatile clip-based binder system that works with many different types of notebooks and paper refills, the Taschenbegleiter comes in many different materials and finishes, both leather and vegan-friendly rubber and vinyl. My personal favorite is the light grey recycled leather, which has the look of a leather cover with added stiffness for writing on the go. 2. TWSBI Kai Fountain Pens. Somewhat regrettably, TWSBI holds back on releasing more fountain pens in this format, which is the same as the previous “Draco” and “Aurora” releases. The second shipment of these pens is available for pre-order this morning!

3. Kaweco Collection Fountain Pens. I was excited to finally see the Kaweco “Collection” Sport Fountain Pens in person, and these are some great colors! (I immediately picked one of the Olive pens for myself.)

4. Kaweco Skyline Sport Fountain Pens. We recently replenished our stock of Kaweco Skyline Sport fountain pens, and also added the grey and white Skyline Sport fountain pens with the chrome trim.

5. Diamine Inkvent Calendar. It’s coming up on that time of year again, and the Diamine Inkvent Calendars are ready to go! I plan to play along this year and already have set one aside for myself.

6. Kaweco Sport Clips and Converters. With this latest Kaweco restock, we took the opportunity to stock up on Kaweco accessories for the Sport line, including clips and pump converters.

7. Kaweco Sketch-Up Clutch Pencils in Metal and Softfeel Finishes. The Kaweco Sketch-Up is a 5.6mm clutch pencil that accepts the wide graphite, highlighter, or all-purpose colored leads, making it perfect for drawing, highlighting or annotating.

8. Kaweco Sketch-Up Refills. We recently received a major restock of the clutch pencil refills! All colors and types are now in stock.

9. Traveler’s Company Notebooks and 2024 Diary Refills. We’re fully stocked on Traveler’s Notebook Starter Kits (including the new Olive notebooks), and if you’re looking for a dated planner this year, we have all of the various options in stock, in addition to the full line of accessories.

10. Anderillium Ink Lepidopteran Series. The latest ink series from Anderillium is based on moths and butterflies. I recently reviewed two of the colors, Viceroy Butterfly Orange and Atlas Moth Brown.

Curated Shop Updates: Introducing the Kaweco Collection!

This week we received a restock shipment from Kaweco, including the full range of Kaweco Collection Sport fountain pens, plus Kaweco converters and Sport clips in all three finishes, allowing you to customize your Kaweco Sport for bottle filling or pocket carry. The Kaweco Collection features unique colors different from the standard Sport line, including some interested muted tones such as the Olive Green (shown below, which I’ve kitted out with both a clip and vintage nib), as well as a sage green and several muted blue tones. We’ve also filled out our selection of Skyline Sport fountain pens, adding the grey and white options. Of course, we carry the full line of Kaweco ink, both bottled and in cartridges.

Thursday Drops: Everything You Need to Build Your Perfect Desk Setup

Since I’ve been on leave, I’ve spent much of the past week working on my house - including my office space and desk. It’s shocking how easily our workspaces can become cluttered by default, as we accumulate tools, gear, and other items unless we consciously bring some degree of intentionality to our personal space. For today’s Thursday Drops post, I’ve included five desk accessories that live on my own writing desk, and which (not coincidentally) have served as foundational items for the Curated Shop. As we are well on our way into back-to-work and back-to-school season, and on the cusp of the holidays, these all make excellent gifts for either yourself or others!

The 2023 Inkvent Calendars are here, and they’re limited!

Finally, I’ve included some recent arrivals in the shop, including the 2023 Diamine Inkvent Calendars that we are stocking for the first time ever! 1. Hightide Co. Sandglasses. I know that I harp on the value of an analog timer, but it’s something I feel strongly about. I’ve moved my phone charger off my desk and across the room, and have mostly replaced any “alarm clock” needs with something visual like a 30-minute Sandglass. Read more on these and how you can incorporate them here.

2. High-quality Sharp Scissors. After my pens, scissors are probably my most frequently used desk accessory. From opening packages and breaking down boxes to cutting tape and snippets of paper to paste in my journals, a good pair of sharp, precision scissors is essential.

3. Pen Trays. Whether you want to invest in something simple like the Melamine trays we stock in the shop, or something special and handcrafted from a company like Toyooka Craft or a Penwell Pen Holder, having a dedicated space to park your writing instruments not only makes the workspace look cleaner, but it also helps prevent pens from getting lost.

4. Folding Book Stands. As someone who handwrites notes and then incorporates them into typed work product, a folding stand that can hold a notebook, notepad, or even an electronic tablet is extremely helpful. One of these is always on my workspace, and another in my bag to travel with me on the go.

5. Landscape Writing Pads or Notebooks. I always keep a landscape-style writing pad close at hand, typically under my keyboard, so that I can jot down notes and thoughts while at my computer.

6. 2023 Diamine Inkvent Calendar. This popular take on the traditional Advent Calendar features 24 12ml bottles of unique ink colors, plus a 25th 30ml bottle to open on the 25th day! I’m going to be “playing along” this year for the first time, and very much looking forward to the experience.

7. 2024 Traveler’s Notebook Diary Refills. The 2024 refills are here, so if you’re looking for a calendar for either your Standard or Passport-sized Traveler’s Notebook, we have you covered. We also have limited stock of the 2023 limited edition accessories, including folders and pencil boards.

8. Olive Traveler’s Notebook Restock. This year’s new addition to the lineup is the popular Olive cover, previously a limited edition. We have additional notebooks in stock in both sizes.

9. Clairefontaine French-Ruled Clothbound Notebooks. These long-time favorites are back in stock, in both A5 and A4. To answer the burning question - YES, French-ruled looseleaf sheets are on order, though I do not have an ETA.

10. T.G.S. Coasters, Stickers, and Pins. Our latest run of TGS “Swag” is in stock and available, including a new acrylic pin and a multi-pack of TGS goods. I hope you enjoy!
