The filling process is half the fun with Tom’s Studio products!

Thursday Drops: New Arrivals from Tom's Studio, Anterique, Toyo and More!

June 11, 2026

Just in time for the summer season, we’ve received a restock of shop favorites including Toyo Steel Boxes and the Tom’s Studio Fineliner lineup. In addition to the Lumos and Wren, we now have the Ori “Infinitely Refillable” Highlighter, as well as the Tom’s Studio Highlighter inks and a full lineup of Tom’s Studio fountain pen inks in both standard colors and shimmer. Certain colors (specifically Clementine and Espresso) have been in high demand and are now back in stock. Note that we also have Tom’s Studio replacement nibs, ink reservoirs, and other parts.

TWSBI ECO Fountain Pens Serpentine Bronze

Did I mention we have additional TWSBI fountain pens in many different materials and nib sizes?

If you would like to see how the Tom’s Studio pens work, yesterday I wrote a post discussing how I set up the Ori Highlighters, and also did a short YouTube demonstration of how the reservoirs and tips fill. In addition to the large Tom’s Studio shipment, we have new stock of Toyo Steel boxes in many different colors, Diamine ink in favorite colors (including Writer’s Blood!) and more!

Come see these and more in-store during normal hours this week, from 1-6pm Thursday and Friday, and from 10am-5pm on Saturday.

  1. Toyo Steel Boxes in New Colors. We received a new shipment of Toyo Steel Boxes in several sizes and several new colors, including gorgeous indigo and lilac shades. These steel boxes from Toyo are useful for storing small bottles of ink, washing tapes, and other desk and office supplies.

  2. Tom’s Studio Ori Refillable Highlighters. The latest release from Tom’s Studio features refillable highlighter pens in three different color combinations and six different fluorescent inks. Two of the inks (green and purple) are dye-based and can be used in the Lumos pens.

  3. Tom’s Studio Lumos Refillable Fineliners. We received a shipment of Lumos Duo pens in all colors, so we are fully stocked. For those of you coming to see us in person in the Nashville shop, we have new Lumos testers inked up with several different tip sizes. You can read more about how these work and why we like them here.

  4. Tom’s Studio Wren Fineliner Pen. If you are looking for a pocketable refillable fineliner to use mainly for writing, consider the smaller Tom’s Studio Wren!

  5. Tom’s Studio Fountain Pen Inks. Safe for use in all fountain pens and Tom’s Studio refillable fineliners, the Tom’s Studio line of inks features 20+ ink colors. We have all of them currently in stock as of the time of this post.

  6. Anterique GP1 Gel Pen. Is it a click pen, or a capped pen? This new gel pen from Anterique features a smooth .5mm gel refill in multiple colors that match the “cap” of the pen. (It’s not a capped pen - it’s actually a click pen that looks like a posted vintage-style ballpoint!)

  7. Anterique Classic Ballpoint Pen. The cult classic that went viral overnight is back in stock in many popular colors. These Anterique ballpoints feature a smooth low-viscosity ballpoint refill that’s perfect for everyday writing.

  8. Life Paper. We are restocked on Life Noble Note, Typewriter Paper, and Airmail/Onionskin pads. Life Paper is widely regarded as some of the most fountain pen friendly paper available and is prominently featured in our long-running post “Hierarchies of Fountain Pen Friendly Paper.”

  9. Diamine Bottled Ink. We recently received a restock shipment of Diamine Ink, including favorite colors like Writer’s Blood, Oxblood, and Lady Grey. We even have single bottles of some of our favorite past Inkvent Colors!

  10. Diamine Ink Cartridges. In addition to the Diamine assortment packs, we now have single-color packs of select Diamine Inks, including Writer’s Blood, Early Grey, and more.

Itoya Helvetica Ballpoint

Oh, and as a special surprise, we have a couple of Itoya Helvetica ballpoints that I brought back from Japan! These won’t be a regular item so be sure to grab one as available.

New Arrivals: Caran d'Ache Claim-Your-Style, Edition 5 Plus the Endless Recorder Notebooks and Hightide/Penco!

July 16, 2024

So even though we don’t move into our new space until next week, some recent orders we’ve placed have started to arrive! The most surprising arrival was this year’s Caran d’Ache 849 Claim Your Style Release (the 5th Edition), which features four new Caran d’Ache 849 ballpoints in a matte-gradient finish. I’ve been somewhat underwhelmed by the Claim Your Style Pens in the last couple of years, but these are simply stunning. I think I like the dark blue tones the best. This year, Caran d’Ache also released a special bicolor pencil set to complement the annual Claim Your Style 849, which are sure to be popular as they feature a combination of a dozen different organic, fluorescent, and metallic colors.

Which one is your favorite? The top two are the ones that speak to me in particular.

We’ve also received our first shipment of the Endless Recorder Notebooks, featuring Endless Regalia Paper. This latest addition to our stock of fountain pen friendly paper has been in the works for some time, and these popular hardbound notebooks come in a wide array of colors and the full range of rulings (blank, lined, grid, and dot). Finally, we’ve restocked on many Hightide/Penco items, including the Sandglasses, Folding Metal Bookstands, and the Drafting Ballpoint Pens.

The Gentleman Stationer is supported entirely by purchases from the T.G.S. Curated Shop and pledges via the T.G.S. Patreon Program.

We now have Endless Recorder A5 Notebooks in all five colors! Most rulings are available with more on the way as some color/ruling combinations are backordered.

We will be at the D.C. Pen Show! Details below.

A Mid-Summer Update from T.G.S.: Lots of Changes on the Horizon, Including a Brick-and-Mortar Shopping Option Plus Pen Shows!

July 10, 2024

Those of you who are Patreon members or who subscribe to the shop newsletter may already be aware of some of these announcements, but I figured it was time to update the general readership since we are now very close to our move date! For the past year, I’ve been searching for a physical location for T.G.S., and given rising commercial real estate costs in the greater Nashville, Tennessee area, it hasn’t been easy to find suitable space that’s also reasonably priced. As it turns out, we have a lease on a location, and will be taking possession towards the end of July.

This is an extremely exciting new development for us (me and my family, who collectively run T.G.S.), and will allow us to expand both the T.G.S. Curated Shop as well as the range of pen-related content we can provide through our various media channels. Currently, I don’t have dedicated studio space for photography and video, which necessarily limits the quantity and quality of content that I can produce. The educational and informational content we offer here at T.G.S. will remain a core part of what we do, and a big part of this move is about expanding what we can offer the pen community in that regard.

I’ve been attending multiple retail trade shows over the past couple of years preparing to expand the various lines of stationery we can offer, as well as partnering with manufacturers and brands on additional exclusive collaborations.

Will There Be an In-Person Shopping Option in Nashville? Yes! But Not Immediately.

As soon as we are able to move over our warehouse and office/fulfillment operations, we will offer in-person order pickup from a fixed location in the Nashville area. Once we take possession, I will post the address and pickup instructions here on the site, but I can go ahead and let my local customers know that the new location is near Berry Hill and central to most of the greater Nashville Metropolitan area. In the coming months - hopefully prior to the holidays - we plan to have a small retail area set up within our space that will allow people to come and shop our various product lines in person. Store hours will be forthcoming.

D.C. Pen Show Details: Come See T.G.S. In Person!

Due to the impending move, which is currently scheduled to take place the week before the D.C. Pen Show, we will not have time to assemble a full table’s worth of inventory for either the D.C. or San Francisco Pen Shows in August. That said, we will be in attendance, teaming up with our friends at Vanness Pens to help staff the new Vanness Pen Lounge in D.C.! The Pen Lounge will be located in the downstairs conference area below the main ballroom (which at past shows had been used as the “maker’s area” before last year’s hotel remodel. Stay tuned for further details as we get closer to the main event, but this space will feature an area for attendees to socialize, ask questions from a rotating cast of volunteers, and attend mini-classes and workshops throughout the weekend.

In addition to helping staff the Lounge, I will be hosting a workshop on notebook systems, and will have a small selection of samples from brands including Roterfaden, Lochby, Traveler’s Company, Midori, Laconic, and more. While I can’t commit to bringing items for in-person purchase, since our ability to restock inventory may be limited by the move, I will try to have a small selection of T.G.S. products available for purchase at the Vanness tables. Please let me know if there is something you specifically want to see and I will try to make it happen!

Thursday Drops: Feel the Heat!

June 29, 2023

Feel the heat, literally and figuratively, as it seems to be cranking up here in advance of the weekend. The big news is that we have the new TWSBI ECO “Heat” now available for preorder, which is the latest in a series of orange and yellow TWSBI releases. The last several colors have been among the best I’ve seen from them - we have the ECO-T “Saffron” and “Persian Green” in stock, and more pens and nib sizes are on the way next week. Happy shopping!

The Gentleman Stationer is an authorized retailer of all brands sold.

  1. TWSBI ECO “Heat” Fountain Pen. The “Heat” is on! People have been clamoring for another orange TWSBI ECO, and I can’t wait to see what this shade looks like in person. This is a pre-order, with the pens set to arrive Monday so reserve yours now.

  2. TWSBI ECO-T “Saffron” Fountain Pen. We received another shipment of the ECO-T Saffron pens, in most nib sizes. Personally, this is my favorite of this year’s releases, given my love for yellow.

  3. TWSBI ECO “Persian Green” Fountain Pen. This pen is a mint/teal color, darker than the ECO-T Mint, which is more of a cool blue than a true green.

  4. TWSBI ECO-T Mint Fountain Pen. Could this be my new favorite pen in the standard TWSBI lineup? I can’t believe I waited so long to add one of these to my own collection.

  5. Laban “Greek Mythology” Fountain Pen Inks. We’ve received a restock on the Laban Greek Mythology Inks, including favorites such as Artemis Navy Blue, Athena Grey, and the unique Aphrodite Pink!

  6. Lamy AL-Star 2023 Special Edition Fountain Pens. We have the AL-Star 2023 releases in Lilac and Petrol. Both are great colors, with Petrol probably being my personal favorite.

  7. Platinum Matte Curidas Retractable Fountain Pen. The latest Curidas limited releases from Platinum have sold extremely well, with the blue and red versions currently leading the way.

  8. Platinum Preppy Wa Third Edition “Modern Maki-e” Fountain Pens. We’re down to our last several Platinum Preppy Wa fountain pens from this last release. I appreciate how Platinum has lowered the barrier to entry in the limited edition game!

  9. Endless Creator Retractable Fountain Pen. I’ve been relatively impressed with Endless’s attempt to introduce an original retractable fountain pen design at a relatively low price point. The design’s not for everyone, but if you enjoy faceted pens, you may want to give this one a try.

  10. Anterique Ballpoint Pens. These are among my favorite new additions to the shop for 2023, whether you pick from the classic click pens or the brass-barrel upgrades! The .5mm “Mach Ball” refill is exceptional.

New Arrivals: Inks from Laban, Including Aphrodite Pink!

June 27, 2023

Yesterday we received a restock of the Laban Greek Mythology Ink Series, including favorites such as Athena Grey, Artemis Blue, and the seemingly perpetually backordered Aphrodite Pink. The latter we have in very low stock, so if you’re looking for this particular bottle, please do act fast. I plan to continue to carry these inks in the future, so if you miss out on a preferred color this shipment, there will be more.

We’ve also received some updates to our collection of desk accessories, including new colors in these Midori rulers that have sold phenomenally well. Between the Traveler’s Company Brass Ruler, one of these Midori versions, or the compact tape measure in the Midori XS Stationery Kits, my measuring game is strong!

The Gentleman Stationer is an authorized retailer of all brands sold, including Laban, Midori, and other brands shown here.
