Plotter Walkthrough: How I Use My Plotter Binders (Video)

May 7, 2025

This one’s been a long-time coming. Readers have been asking me for more notetaking and organizational “technique” content, which I’ve discovered is pretty hard to do here on the blog. It’s much easier to show people how I use various notebook systems, and in-store customers have remarked that my store demonstrations and explanations would make compelling video content. I’ve previously done similar videos on Roterfaden and certain of the Lochby cases. Today I walk through three of my Plotter binders, including the Mini 5 (Pocket-size), Bible Size, and Standard A5. I’ve also written some about what Plotter is and how I use it, but in this video I actually flip through all of the notebooks and talk about the accessories and how they each fit into my workflow. I’ve also added Chapters so that you can jump to the specific notebook you want to hear about, but please do listen to the intro because it does provide a general overview of Plotter and the overall role it plays for me.

Note: We are not Plotter retailers, and have no affiliation with the brand other than that we enjoy using their products. I will note that many of the items we sell (including looseleaf papers and paper pads from Midori, Clairefontaine, Yamamoto Paper, Nakabayashi, and Iroful) can be trimmed and/or hole-punched to use in Plotter and other notebook systems, which is actually how I personally use much of the paper I consume.

We are supported entirely by purchases from the T.G.S. Curated Shop and pledges via the T.G.S. Patreon Program. Our brick and mortar shop will be open Thursday and Saturday this week, and this Friday by appointment. Typically we have regular Friday hours, but I need to finish upgrading some displays and plan to take the afternoon to do that work. Come see us on Saturday and check out the new look!

Currently Inked for March 12, 2025: Two New Vintage Pens

March 12, 2025

So it’s been a while since I published one of my “Currently Inked” videos. People seem to enjoy them, and I’ve had a few requests to do another one, so here goes!

This month I added four pens to the rotation: two old favorites and two “new” vintage pens (as in, new to me). The old favorites include the Aurora 88 Sigaro Blu and the Lamy 2000 in Stainless Steel, and the vintage pens are a classic Parker 45 with a 14k nib that I bought for $65 at the Dallas Pen Show, and an Aurora from the Archivi Storici collection, which I believe is a slimmer version of the vintage Aurora 88 since it has the same nib. The pen did not come with a box so I do not know the exact model. Help is appreciated. This is either a new old stock vintage pen or a modern reproduction using vintage components. The inks chosen are two favorite Iroshizuku Inks (Yama-Budo and Tsuki-Yo), as well as Taccia Ukiyo-e Hiroshige Ainezu.

From left: Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel, Parker 45 in Grey; Aurora 88 in Sigaro Blu; and the Aurora Mystery Vintage pen from the Archivi Storici series, all in my Skogsy Rickshaw Bagworks Sinclair Model-R.

You can check out the full YouTube video here.

So Why Am I Restarting This Video Series (Other Than for Fun?)

One project of mine for 2025 is to let go of five unused pens every month, and a big part of that is actually putting things into rotation to see what I can/cannot bear to part with. So far, I’ve been successful, offloading between 15-20 pens during the first quarter through the Patreon monthly pen sales. If any of them survive, they will appear in the Gently Used section of the shop. Stay tuned!

Travel Interlude, Day One! T.G.S. YouTube Channel Updates

October 5, 2024

I’ve tried to do more video content this year, and my current trip will hopefully offer more opportunities to film in unique stationery-related locales of interest. I will be chronicling my adventures this week on the T.G.S. Instagram account, and eventually on the T.G.S. YouTube Channel. (I’d love to do more YouTube and upload longer videos in real time, but I have no idea how well my internet connection will hold up here and suspect it is too slow.) In the meantime, continuing the tradition of posting recaps of some favorite content when I’m on the road, check out a handful of my favorite YouTube videos from the past year!

  1. Come Take a Tour of the New Gentleman Stationer Shop!

  2. Calling All Pencil Geeks: Three Long Point Desktop Pencil Sharpeners.

  3. Kaweco Sport Piston Filler: Vintage vs. Modern.

  4. My Favorite Multi Pens: The Lamy 2000 4-Color Ballpoint and Uni Jetstream 4+1.

  5. Pen Review: Sailor 1911 Kobe Affection Kyomachi Legend Blue, a Nagasawa Stationery Exclusive Release.
